Austria-based Pfanner Schutzbekleidung GmbH uses Keppel TPE material on the headband of its Protos integral headset.
From forestry and agriculture to construction and air rescue services, personal protective equipment must have a comfortable, lightweight and practical design.
Therefore, Pfanner Schutzbekleidung chose the high-performance composite materials of Keppel Gumbo VS/AD/HM THERMOLAST K series as the headband of Protos integral headset. The headband was developed by Westcam and distributed by Pfanner Schutzbekleidung.
In addition to its soft surface (VS), excellent adhesion (AD) and high mechanical (HM) characteristics, this high-tech TPE also provides a wide range of design freedom and cost-effective processing technology.
Martin Greber, head of Westcam's development department, said: "We have already had very rich experience in Keppel's thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), which has been used in Protos integral safety helmet ... The adhesive strength of this soft/hard product has been tried and tested many times in actual use, which is why THERMOLAST K has been selected into the combination of wire/TPE and ABS/TPE in headphones from the beginning."
The clip is made of ABS copolymer and TPE is injected inside, which can realize reliable insulation. TPE's texture makes the headband and clip pressure-free and comfortable.
The selected THERMOLAST K composite combines 60 Shore A hardness, high tensile strength, tear strength and fracture strength. Wear resistant surface can resist sebum, cream and common household detergent for a long time. In addition, TPE meets the requirements of ISO 10993-10 for non-irritating tolerance to skin-contacting materials.
Protos integral headset is specially developed for capsule type protective earmuffs. It has the advantages of modular structure and compact size, less prominence when worn and small package when folded. All materials in headphones are customized to match their functions.
