Most TPE and TPR are transparent, semitransparent and white, and are easy to color. Appropriate toner or color master should be selected for coloring. In general, SBC-based TPE/TPR is better than other types of TPE/TPR materials in coloring. SBC-based TPE/TPR materials only need a small amount of color masterbatch to achieve the desired color effect, and the prepared color is purer and brighter than other types of TPE/TPR. It should be noted that the viscosity of the color masterbatch is lower than that of TPE/TPR, because the melt index of TPE/TPR is higher than that of the color masterbatch, which is conducive to dispersion and more uniform color distribution.
1) TPE/TPR based on SBS is preferably polystyrene or EVA color carrier.
2) Hard TPE/TPR based on SEBS, preferably polypropylene color carrier.
3) For soft TPE/TPR based on SEBS, it is better to use low density polyethylene or ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer instead of polypropylene color carrier, so as to avoid the hardness of the composite material being affected by polypropylene color carrier.
4) Neither 4)SBS nor SEBS can use PVC as color master batch.
5) For the application of TPE/TPR for some rubber-coated injection molding, the use of polyethylene color carrier should be avoided, because polyethylene color carrier may adversely affect the adhesion between TPE/TPR and substrate.
