Application of TPE/TPR materials in toy tires

Rubber, which has excellent tensile and tear strength and excellent wear resistance, is the most common material for toy car tires before. However, rubber needs vulcanization, and the processing cycle is long, and waste materials are difficult to recycle again. In recent years, a kind of thermoplastic rubber (also called thermoplastic elastomer) TPR has gradually been widely used in various toy car tires because most toy car tires do not have too high requirements for load-bearing. TPE/TPR has excellent wear resistance, tensile strength, cushioning and shock absorption, and is thermoplastic, and can be directly injection molded without vulcanization, thus greatly shortening the production cycle. Moreover, TPE and TPR are environment-friendly and nontoxic, and are more recognized by toy end consumers. Thermoplastic rubber TPE and TPR are used to produce toy car tires. Two kinds of hardness materials can be used, one is the harder material with hardness of 60~80 degrees and the other is the softer material with hardness of 30~40 degrees. The applications of the two materials are as follows: 1. TPR of thermoplastic rubber with hardness of 60~80 degrees. It is used to produce solid toy car tires, or all of which are made of TPR material. Higher material hardness and thicker tire size ensure the strength of the tires. According to different tire sizes, the tires are about 5~8mm or thicker. 2. TPR of thermoplastic rubber with hardness of 30~40. Used in the production of tire skins of toy car tires. The skeleton (hub) of the tires is made of hard plastic PP, and the outer tire skins for direct contact with the ground are made of thermoplastic rubber TPR. The thickness is usually 1 ~ 3 mm. Processing method: separate injection molding can be adopted. First, the tire rubber is made by injection molding, and then the rubber is sleeved on the wheel hub by using the contractibility of TPR. There is also the way of (secondary) injection molding, in which TPE and TPR are injected into rubber and compounded with PP hub parts at the same time (thermoplastic rubber TPE,TPR and PP C have excellent welding performance, and they can be bonded with each other at the high temperature required for injection molding)
