Thermoplastic elastomer TPE(Thermoplastic Elastomer), also known as artificial rubber or synthetic rubber. The product not only has the excellent properties of high elasticity, aging resistance and oil resistance of traditional crosslinked vulcanized rubber, but also has the characteristics of convenient processing and wide processing mode of common plastics.
TPE is mainly composed of two parts, one is plastic as continuous phase and the other is rubber as dispersed phase. Usually rubber needs to be matched with softening oil or plasticizer. Vulcanizing agents and some auxiliary agents are also essential. In addition, in order to reduce the cost or improve some performance, some inorganic fillers will also be added. According to the material composition, it can be divided into styrene (SBS, SIS, SEBS, SEPS), olefin (TP0, TPV), diene (TPB, TPI), vinyl chloride (TPVC, TCPE), urethane (TPU), ester (TPE), amide (TPAE), organic fluorine (TPF), silicone and ethylene, which cover almost all fields of synthetic rubber and synthetic resin. Wire surface is not smooth
TPE wire rod processing often occurs, which is generally caused by improper temperature adjustment and uneven mixing of flame retardant, and may also be caused by incorrect mold selection. Of course, it is also closely related to the material formula. Experienced processing factories will eliminate equipment problems and find the right temperature after repeated debugging. However, engineers must be careful in choosing the right materials and the specific formula. It is suggested to communicate more with raw material suppliers, know the physical properties of materials and processing precautions, and choose the right materials, it will get twice the result with half the effort! TPU wire is better than TPE wire in surface processing.
Wire surface precipitation
Up to now, there is no material that can guarantee complete non-precipitation. The specific precipitation is shown as white surface, oil emission or fogging. With current technology, this problem has not been solved. It is suggested that customers should choose materials with slightly whitish surface when choosing, and this precipitation will not affect its physical and electrical properties. Do not use materials with oil on the surface, which are easy to fall off and peel off during use. In addition, the precipitation also has its weight. The precipitation of good materials is slight, and it is not easy to occur in a short period of time. Even if it occurs, it is only good to wipe it lightly with your hand.
Scraping white and peeling off glue on the surface
White scraping is caused by PP and PE added to the material and can be improved. There are also some manufacturers who do not include white, but TPE is more difficult than TPU. If the skin and glue fall off, the level is very general. What we want to say here is still the formula! Craft!
Processing difficulty
Elastomers show slower processing speed, about 50% slower than PVC. The temperature is not well regulated, so a lot of materials are wasted when adjusting the machine, and the machine needs to be washed before making the materials, which is quite a waste. These are all inevitable. In the production, sometimes there will be problems in the later process when everything is normal in the former stage of production. In this regard, it should be noted that there is a risk in the use of sub-brand materials and caution is required.
Flame retardant TPE/TPU is a very unique material. The difficult problem of flame retardant TPE/TPU still needs more work in material selection, formulation and technology. In general, it is suggested to use liquid flame retardant to improve flame retardancy while reducing hardness and reduce the amount of powder flame retardant, which can improve the transparency of products, improve the compatibility of flame retardant and substrate by using compatilizer, improve precipitation and greatly improve mechanical properties. In the process, special screw distribution is adopted to improve the dispersion of flame retardant in the system, improve the flame retardant efficiency and improve the appearance. A new type of organic silicon flame retardant is adopted, and a condensed phase flame retardant mechanism is adopted to form a cracking carbon layer with extremely strong oxidation resistance and improve flame retardant efficiency.
